How to play Hangman
- Choose a letter from the on-screen alphabet. Every occurrence of a correct letter is revealed together.
- A letter absent from the word adds one mistake. You may make at most six wrong choices; used letters cannot be selected again.
- Reveal every letter to win. On a loss, the whole word is shown. New game picks another word and clue. There is no timer, account or keyboard typing requirement.
Hangman practice guide
Let the pattern guide the next guess
A familiar vowel can reveal useful structure, but repeatedly guessing common letters without reading the clue wastes opportunities. After every correct guess, look at the revealed positions and the total length. Consider words that fit both the pattern and the meaning before choosing the next letter. Repeated letters are revealed automatically, so one correct choice can fill several gaps.
The clue describes a writing tool
A six-letter word has clue A writing tool with a graphite core. You reveal E in its second position and I in its fifth. Read the complete clue alongside the pattern before guessing another unrelated consonant. A specific meaning can reduce the choices more effectively than letter frequency alone.
A focused practice session
- Read the clue and word length before the first guess.
- After a reveal, name one plausible complete word.
- Near the mistake limit, check used wrong letters before choosing.
What to keep in mind
The word bank contains everyday English nouns with clues. This is a relaxed vocabulary game; it does not claim to measure language ability. A new round may select a word seen before.
