How to play Kakuro Mini
- Fill the nine white cells with digits 1–9. A number to the left is its row’s target sum; a number above is its column’s target sum.
- Digits cannot repeat within the same three-cell row or column. Reuse in a different row and different column is allowed.
- Press Check sums to validate the whole grid. Clear grid keeps the targets; New game creates another set. More than one valid completion may exist, and any completion meeting every rule wins.
Kakuro Mini practice guide
A sum is a set of possible combinations
For a three-cell run, list distinct-digit combinations that reach its target. Then compare them with crossing constraints. A digit can appear somewhere in a row without belonging in every square of that row. Keep the no-repeat rule separate from the arithmetic: reaching the total with repeated digits is still invalid.
A three-cell run totals six
Three distinct positive digits from 1 to 9 that total 6 must be 1, 2 and 3 in some order. The crossing column sums determine where each belongs. A row containing 2, 2 and 2 reaches the same total but breaks the distinct-digit rule, so it cannot be accepted.
A focused practice session
- Identify a low or high sum with few possible digit combinations.
- Use a crossing sum to decide one cell before completing its whole row.
- Check each run for repeated digits before pressing Check sums.
What to keep in mind
Kakuro Mini uses one 3×3 white block rather than a large grid of intersecting black-cell runs. Clues are generated from a valid arrangement, but uniqueness is not claimed.
