Type the passage as fast and accurately as you can. See your words-per-minute and accuracy the moment you finish.
Click into the text box and start typing the passage shown — the timer starts automatically on your first keystroke. Correctly typed characters turn dark, mistakes are highlighted in red. Finish the whole passage, or run out of time, and your results appear: words per minute (WPM) and accuracy.
Easy uses short, simple sentences with common words. Medium mixes in longer sentences and punctuation. Hard includes longer words, numbers, and more complex punctuation — a real test of both speed and precision.
Keep your eyes on the screen rather than glancing down at your keyboard — this alone noticeably improves most people's typing speed within a few sessions. Prioritise accuracy over raw speed at first; a clean 40 WPM run is more valuable practice than a sloppy 60 WPM run full of mistakes. Rest your fingers on the home row (ASDF / JKL;) between words so each keystroke travels the shortest possible distance.
How is WPM calculated? Words per minute is calculated as (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed, the standard formula used by most typing tests.
What counts as an error? Any character that doesn't match the target passage at that position counts as an error, shown highlighted in red as you type.
Do harder passages affect my WPM? They can — Hard passages include numbers and punctuation that naturally slow most typists down, so comparing WPM across difficulties isn't quite apples-to-apples.
