You have six tries to guess a hidden five-letter word. Green means a correct letter in the right spot; yellow means a matching letter in a different spot. Grey means there is no remaining matching occurrence for that tile, so an extra repeated letter can be grey even if another copy is green. Use the on-screen keyboard, or focus the board, type and press Enter on desktop. This lightweight version accepts any five-letter combination; it does not validate guesses against a dictionary.
Daily mode chooses a word from your device’s local calendar date. Consecutive daily wins build your streak; a skipped day or daily loss breaks it. Wins and progress are stored on this browser. Practice chooses a random word each time you select it and does not add wins to your daily streak.
Start your first guess with a word that has several common vowels and consonants, like CRANE or ADIEU, to gather the most information early. Use grey (absent) letters to eliminate options rather than trying them again in later guesses. Pay close attention to yellow letters' position — a yellow letter means it's in the word but not in that exact spot, so try it in a different position next time.
Is the daily word the same for everyone? Players using the same local calendar date get the same daily word. Players in different time zones may already be on different dates.
What happens if I miss a day? Your streak resets to zero the next time you play if you don't solve that day's word.
Can I keep playing after solving the daily word? Yes — switch to Practice mode for unlimited random words that don't affect your streak.
A green tile fixes a letter in that position. Yellow means a matching letter belongs elsewhere. Grey means there is no remaining occurrence available for that tile; it does not always mean the letter is absent everywhere. Build your next guess from these constraints instead of only adding new letters. In Daily mode the word follows your local calendar date, while Practice provides more attempts without changing the daily streak.
Use APPLE as an illustrative target and ALLEY as a guess. The A is green. The first L is yellow because the target has an L elsewhere, while the second L is grey because that single occurrence is already accounted for. E is yellow and Y is grey. The lesson is to keep one L as a possibility and move it; the extra grey L does not cancel the yellow evidence.
This version accepts five-letter combinations without checking a dictionary. Six guesses are available. Daily progress and streaks belong to this browser; clearing storage or using another device can change what is remembered.
